James and his son William Copsey are buried together.
James was born in 1804 and baptised in Kenilworth on 4 April that year. He married Susanna Edginton at Stoneleigh Church on 16 April 1833 and they lived at Bubbenhall Lodge (alternatively known as London or Tantara Lodge). James worked as a tailor and they had two sons, William and Frederick.
James is last recorded at No. 1 North Lodge in the 1871 census and died on 2 June 1877. He was buried on 6 June.
William, the elder son of James and Susanna was born in 1834 and baptised on 26 February that year at Stoneleigh. He remained unmarried and is recorded as working first as a tailor but later as a labourer; he died at the comparatively young age of 33 on 26 January 1868 and was buried on 1 February.
The inscription on the stone is taken from a popular Victorian hymn and suggests the untimely nature of William's death.
Susanna's last address was 1, New Almshouses. She too was buried in Stoneleigh churchyard, on 8 February 1889, but is not commemorated on this stone.
