John Skelton was born in 1716, possibly in Allesley.
On 19 February 1738 he married
Jane Weston at St Michael's, Coventry and by the 1780s can be found in Land Tax records, farming land owned by Mr Gilbert.
His wife Jane (nee Weston) was born in 1709 and died on 28 November 1779, being buried on 1 December.
John died on 2 September 1796 and was buried at Stoneleigh on 30 October. The reason for the delay before burial is unknown, although probate had been granted on 6 October. In his Will he left his estate to nephews and a niece, suggesting that he and Jane were childless.
Their tombstone states "of Westwood Heath", as does the burial register.
