Grave photoEdmund Henry Adcock was born in Stoneleigh on 10 August 1897 to William Adcock and his wife Edith nee Wright, and baptised on 4 September. The Adcock family have been tenant farmers on the estate for many generations. Edmund's father William farmed at The Hill, as his father before him had done, but by the 1901 census William was farming at The Leasowes, and his son Edmund was to continue to farm there. The youngest of three, his elder brother William farmed at Wainbody Wood Farm and his sister Ethel married Walter Archer who was a Wolston dairy farmer. Edmund married Eleanor May Collins in 1921. Usually known as Nell, she was one of the nine children of Joseph Collins and his wife Julia nee Ashford; she was born on 8 April 1895 in Langley and her father was a maltster/brewer in Stratford. By the time of the 1939 register Edmund was farming at The Leasowes, with his parents, now retired, living with him, his wife and their son William, who had been born in 1923. Edmund died at The Leasowes on 6 August 1974 and Eleanor died there five years later, on 28 April 1979.
