B13.6

Grave drawing
Grave photoA further tombstone records another Phillips family, though again it is difficult to know whether they are related to those at B12.8, B13.4 and B13.5. The proximity of these graves suggests that they are. Martha died on 17 October 1842 and was buried on 20 October. She was 40 years old and her residence given as Warwick. Indeed, she is described on the stone as "wife of John Phillips of Warwick." John himself died aged 55 on 27 October 1853 and was buried on 5 November, his address given as Priory Gardens. He had married again after Martha's death to Jane, and in the 1851 census they lived at Priory Gardens, Priory Park, Warwick, where John was a nurseryman employing 3 men. As with Joseph Phillips B13.5) his burial at Stoneleigh suggests a connection here. Perhaps his occupation as a gardener suggests he was a relative of Thomas Phillips (B13.4) as Thomas was a gardener too? Martha and John had a son, William, born in 1829, who died aged 3 months and is buried with his parents. Their daughter Sarah married an Offchurch farmer, John Bagnall, and they farmed in Hunningham, her stepmother Jane also residing with them. Sarah died in March 1912. Their son Thomas moved to Birmingham where he married and brought up a large family.
