Hubert Wilfred King was the youngest of the eight children of Joseph and Mary King nee Lowe. The family had moved to Stoneleigh from Priors Marston after 1893. Hubert was born on 28 April 1909 in Stoneleigh and baptised there on 16 August. By the time of the 1911 census one of the children had died, and father Joseph was working as a farm waggoner.
Florence (or Florrie as she was known) Woolman was born in Kibworth Beauchamp, Leicestershire, on 30 June 1909 and was one of nine children of William and Teresa Woolman. The 1911 census reveals her father as being a pensioner - indeed, he was thirty years his wife's senior, (ages are given differently in various censuses!)and had been born in Smeeton Westerby in the heart of Leicestershire's framework knitting industry.
In late 1934 Hubert and Florrie married in Coventry, and they had two daughters, Jean, born in 1940 and Celia, born in 1950. In the 1939 register Hubert and Florrie lived in Coventry Road, Stoneleigh, and he was a motor car body mounter.
Florrie died on 25 March 2004 at the advanced age of 94, and is commemorated along with her husband Hubert who had died many years previously on 10 September 1981.
