Grave photoArchibald James Walton Archibald was born in Stoneleigh in July 1886 to parents Thomas Edward Walton and his wife Ellen Mary Jones. He was baptised in Stoneleigh shortly afterwards on 19 September that year. His father was a carpenter and joiner and by 1891 the family were living at River Bank No. 1. Ten years later by 1901, his mother having died and his father having remarried, he had moved to live with his grandparents in Vicarage Road and he was now one of the many carpenters in the family. In 1911 he emigrated after having continued to live in Vicarage Road at Pear tree Cottage with his widowed grandmother Lucy Walton and other members of the family. He was not in a healthy state when he left and unfortunately died two years later in January 1913 in Edmonton, Alberta in Canada, aged just 26 years. Elizabeth Jane Goodwin was born in Leamington Spa on 25 June 1875. Her father was Henry Goodwin, and by the time Elizabeth was 15 years old her mother Jane Goodwin nee Butcher had been widowed. Elizabeth married Thomas Edward Walton in 1893; his first wife had died 2 years earlier leaving him with two small children. They lived in Stoneleigh and had two sons John and William and three daughters, Dorothy, Barbara and Eunice Margaret. By 1911 the couple were living with two sons and one daughter, with Thomas being employed as a carpenter. They were living in Motslow Hill Cottage in 1939 with their children William and Eunice Margaret; Thomas had previously retired . Elizabeth passed away aged 78 on 19 December 1953. She was a widow and the executor of her will was her eldest son John Reginald Walton, a coachbuilder. Thomas Edward Walton Thomas was born in Ashow on 28 January 1863 to father James Walton and his wife Lucy Ann Freeman. He was baptised there on 22 March that year. His father James had been born in Ashow and worked as a carpenter. By 1881 Thomas was 18 years old, had 4 brothers and 2 sisters, and was also employed as a carpenter/joiner. He married Ellen Mary Jones on 5 September 1885 in Stoneleigh. Unfortunately she died in July 1891 aged just 27 years leaving Thomas with two small children. They were living at Number 1 River Bank Stoneleigh at the time. In July 1893 he married Elizabeth Jane Goodwin and by 1901 they were living with three children at Hudsons Bridge Bank in Stoneleigh (quite possibly the same address with a different name, and today known as Motslow Hill Cottage). By the 1911 Census Thomas and Elizabeth were still living in Stoneleigh with their two sons John and Willliam and their daughter Eunice. John had followed the family tradition and become a carpenter while the other children were still at school. He was to serve in WW1 and be taken prisoner. Thomas' son Archibald (by his first wife), suffering from ill health, emigrated in this year and met an untimely death just two years later in Edmonton, Canada. By 1939 Thomas had become a builder and lived with his family at Motslow Hill Cottage. Thomas passed away on the 18 January 1942 aged 78 years.
