Grave photoEdwin Middlicott Edwin was born in Clapton Gloucestershire in January 1850 and was baptised in Lower Slaughter, Gloucestershire some months later on 9 June. His parents were Thomas and Elizabeth Middlicott. In the 1871 census he is the eldest son in a large family still living in Clapton. The next record of him is on 12 September 1873 when he married Elizabeth Hunt, in Combrook, where they both lived. She had been born there around 1855 and their first daughter Mary was born in Combrook in 1875. The 1881 Census confirms the family living there with Edwin working as a farm labourer. They had a son named Edwin born in Solihull in July 1884, followed by a second son George in born in Warwick on 30 January 1889. By 1891 they were all living in a cottage on Church Farm Budbrooke in Warwickshire with Edwin employed as a farm waggoner. Surprisingly their daughter Catherine was born in the first quarter of 1893 at Beachy Head in Eastbourne. By 1901 the family were living in Wainbody Cottages, Stoneleigh, but unfortunately Elizabeth died there in July that year. Ten years later in 1911 Edwin was still living there but alone, working as a farm waggoner. He lived until he was 85 years of age with his death registered in Warwick on 30 November 1935.
