Doris Hilda Adams was born on 16 March 1912, the second child of John Goode the village blacksmith and his wife Emma (nee Bennett). John and Emma ultimately had four children and lived at 26, Birmingham Road. Doris was living at home in 1939, working as a tailoress. In 1957 she married Bernard Adams; she died aged 71 on 2 February 1984, "a dear sister". Bernard had previously died in Birmingham in 1962.
