Wells Charlton was born in Congleton, Cheshire, on 4 January 1915 and married Warwick girl
Florence Hadland, in the summer of 1939. They subsequently had a son and daughter, Nicholas and Hermione. The family initially lived in Baginton Road. Wells, who worked in property, died on 16 December 1991, residing in Malthouse Lane Kenilworth. His family subsequently gifted altar linen in his memory to the church.
Florence's parents had married in 1900 in Warwick, where her father Walter was a regular soldier at Budbrooke Barracks. By 1911 he and his wife Florrie lived in Warwick where by now they had five children and Walter was working in a civilian capacity for the military. Florence was born on 9 October 1916.
Florence died nearly ten years after her husband, on 12 May 2001. Their headstone records the fact that they were together for 52 years.
