George Edward Fardon was born on 22 October 1911 to Edward and Beatrice (nee Ford). His grandfather was the famed Edward Langley Fardon, Stoneleigh engineer and blacksmith. George was baptised on 14 January 1912 at Stoneleigh; sadly his father was to die at the young age of 45 in December 1917. By 1939 George was living with his widowed mother at the Stoneleigh Arms.
George, an electrical engineer, married Miriam Nicholls in 1948 and they went on to have three children, Edward, Nicholas and Judith. He was heavily involved in village matters, being both a church warden and chairman of the parish council. He died on 4 September and was buried on 10 September 1990.
