Alice Rose Ward nee Webb
Alice Rose Webb was born in Dudley in 1870 to parents Benjamin Webb and his wife Harriet nee Townsend. At the time of the 1871 Census, Alice was living in Wesley Street Sedgeley Staffordshire with her parents. Father Benjamin was working as a butcher. By 1881 the family had moved to Cross Street Wednesfield and Alice now had a sister and two brothers. Alice moved to Clarendon Terrace Kenilworth and by 1891 was living with her aunt Charlotte Townsend, both working as dressmakers. She married Frank Ward on 6 June 1898 at St John's Kenilworth when she was 27 years old. He was a cashier at a cycle manufacturer and they lived at Wren Street in Coventry. Alice died aged 66 on 22 December 1936 while living in Northumberland Avenue Leamington Spa.
Frank Ward
A very striking cross commemorates Frank Ward, his first wife Alice and his second wife Nora.
Frank Ward was born on 24 December 1873 in Coventry to parents Joseph Ward and his wife Mary Ann nee Radburn. His father was a ribbon manufacturer. When he was seven in 1881 he was living in Bayley Lane Coventry with his father now described as a hatband manufacturer. He married
Alice Rose Webb on 6 June 1898, and they then lived in Wren Street, Coventry. He was employed as a cashier at a cycle manufacturer, but by 1911 he had become company secretary and the couple had moved to live in Earlsdon, Coventry. When Alice died on 22 December 1936 Frank was now a chartered secretary.
He remarried a year later in December 1937 in Warwick to
Norah Winifred Thomas. In the 1939 Register Frank and Norah were living in a house called
Finham in Northumberland Avenue, Leamington, with her widowed mother and two servants. He was now aged 65 and a director and secretary of a motor car and aero engine company. He passed away aged 87 on 7 June 1961 while living at the same address,
