Grave photoJoseph King was born in Priors Marston near Byfield in Warwickshire. His parents were John King and his wife Ann. In 1871 Joseph was living there with his parents and two sisters who were working as servants; his father was an agricultural labourer. Ten years later in 1881 the family were still living there. In 1887 he married Mary Maria Lowe at Butlers Marston, Warwickshire. Their first child Alfred was born in Priors Marston in 1888 followed by Joseph Charles in 1890; however Ernest was born in Cubbington in 1893 followed by Harry in 1895 in Stareton and then Clara in 1900 in Stoneleigh. All of these locations were part of the Leigh estate. In the 1901 Census the family were living in Vicarage Road Stoneleigh where Joseph was working as a waggoner. By 1911 the family consisted of seven sons and a daughter. He died in early July 1933 and was buried on the 11th of the month. Mary Maria King nee Lowe Mary Maria Lowe was born in Tysoe Warwickshire in April 1868 the daughter of Charles Lowe and his wife Mary. In 1871 Mary was living in Enstone Oxfordshire with her parents, 3 brothers and 4 sisters. Her father was an agricultural labourer. She married Joseph King when she was 19 in Butlers Marston, Warwickshire in November 1887. By 1891 they were living in Priors Marston with two sons Alfred and Joseph, with Joseph Snr. working as an agricultural labourer. Ten years later in 1901 Mary was living in Vicarage Road Stoneleigh with four sons and a daughter, and Joseph had now become a waggoner. By 1911 Mary and Joseph were still in Stoneleigh and now had 7 sons and a daughter. She died in July 1929 and was buried on the 20th at Stoneleigh.
