Grave photoGeorge Hancox and Clara Hancox nee Buswell Clara Buswell was one of the eight children of John and Elizabeth Buswell. She was born on 11 March 1880 in Hampton Lucy, where her father, a Stoneleigh man, was a shepherd. He was the son of James Buswell and Ann nee Willcox (see section E), whose families can be traced back a long way in Stareton. By 1887 the family had moved back to Stoneleigh, though by 1901 Clara was working as a cook and general servant at Fletchamstead Hall. Interestingly a housemaid there was Lucy Hancox, the sister of George Hancox, whom Clara was to marry just three years later, on 21 September 1904. They were married at Westwood Church. George Hancox was born on 31 October 1878 in Kenilworth, though by 1891 he was living in Stoneleigh. His parents were James and Sarah nee Taylor and he had two siblings. George and Clara had three sons, Cyril, Sydney and Robert. (see B12.11, B11.7 and B11.8 respectively.) George was a woodman and in 1911 they lived at The Pools, Westwood; by 1939, however, he and Clara lived in Church Lane with their youngest Robert, and George was employed as an estate fencer. George died on 7 May 1959; Clara lived to the advanced age of 95, dying on 17 March 1975.
