William Boot was born around 1899. He first married Elsie Margaret Woodfield in 1930, but she died in 1933; he then married Grace Byrne, in Coventry in April 1934. He was living in Stareton with his wife when he died aged just 38 on 27 August 1937. He had been vice-captain of the cricket club and played an active part in village social events. For many years afterwards his wife ran a sweet shop in Stareton. (See also B9.9)
