Eugene Herbert Nicoll was born on 3 August 1862 to parents James Nicoll and Charlotte Halsey (a New Yorker) in Bethnal Green. At the age of 18 he was still living with his parents in Forest Gate and working as a clerk. When he married in January 1887 he was living at West Ham, employed as a Wholesale Druggist Manager. By 1911 he had the same occupation but had moved to Pinner in Middlesex. He also appears, as a chemist living in Ilford, in the 1898 register of Freemasons.
From 1923 to 1930 he was a director of Baiss Bros., manufacturing chemists, after which he retired to live in Coventry in 1930, and died in Coventry & Warwickshire Hospital on 14 May 1933 after living in Cannon Hill. His Will had a sole beneficiary, his wife Sarah. They had had 3 daughters and a son during their marriage. Their daughter Katie Mabel married Frank William Bluemel (see
B6.8).
Sarah Nicoll (nee Lamplugh) was born in Devonport in 1862. When she died on 26 March 1951 she was 88 years old and still living at Cannon Hill Coventry. Her Will had two beneficiaries: one was her son-in-law Frank William Bluemel, a company director, the other John Edward Johnson, a solicitor's clerk.
