Frank George Tommy was born in Wem Shropshire on 3 August 1896, the eldest of six children of Jonathan Tommy and Charlotte Jane (nee Raggett). The family lived in Wem at the time of the 1901 Census but had moved to Harley Street, Coventry by 1911. At this time Jonathan was a clerk of works in the building industry and Frank was a clerk.
Frank married Elsie Gertrude Winter in Berkswell on 30 April 1923. They had been living in Stoneleigh Road Gibbet Hill Coventry when Frank died on 22 December 1965 in Whitley Hospital, Coventry.
Elsie Gertrude (nee Winter) was born in Kenilworth on 23 February 1897 to Alfred and Gertrude Annie Winter. She was baptised in Grandborough, her mother's birthplace, on 23 May that year, her father's occupation at that time being a traveller in the book trade. By the time of the 1911 Census the family were living at Balsall Common Post Office, with Alfred working in general groceries, but also describing himself as a car proprietor; Annie was assisting him in the business. Elsie had a younger brother Alfred and sister Edna. Eight years after her husband's death and whilst living in Tulip Tree Avenue Kenilworth, she passed away on 2 December 1973 at the age of 76.
