Grace Boot was born on 1 May 1895 in Taplow, Buckinghamshire although by 1911 she was living with her parents in Byfield. It is not known how she came to Warwickshire. She married William Boot from Stareton, a widower, in 1934 but William died on 27 August 1937. In the 1939 register Grace was employed as a trimmer for a motor manufacturer and her parents, Flora and Mark, and younger sister Olive had joined her in Stareton. She continued to live in Stareton and is well remembered for running a sweet shop there. Her mother Flora died in 1965 in Coventry at the age of 93, and Grace herself died three years later, on 24 July 1968.
