Grave photoReginald Gill was born in Foleshill, Coventry on 28 December 1900 and was baptised on 6 February 1901 at St Paul's Foleshill, the family living in Broad Street. His parents were Samuel Gill and Alice (nee Foster), who had married in 1898. His father had at first been a tram driver, but later was a miner who worked below ground; he died in 1905. By 1911 the family had moved from Broad Street, Alice having re-married Henry Harris who was a waggoner in Ufton, Southam. Alice and Henry had by now had a daughter, Hilda. Reginald married Emma Brain in Ufton on 18 December 1926. She was born in Lillington on 13 October 1902 to parents James and Emma Brain (nee Upton). She was a twin, her sister being called Ella; they were baptised in Lillington on 7 December 1902. In the 1911 Census the family still lived in Lillington, at Red House Cottage, Henry being employed as a waggoner; eight of the ten children still lived at home. Emma and Reginald were married towards the end of 1926, the marriage being registered in Southam; they later had three children. Emma died (the headstone reads "called away") on 23 April 1967 at the age of 64. Reginald passed away at Guys Nursing Home, Leamington, on 31 January 1992 aged 91, some 25 years after the death of his wife.
