Ernest John Thomas and Rosa Sophia Thomas nee Payne
Ernest John Thomas was born on 29 April 1894 in Woodstock, Oxfordshire. In 1922 he married Rosina Sophia Payne in Southampton. By 1939 they were living in Finham at a cottage at the sewage Works, where he was employed. By this time they had a twin son and daughter, as well as another son. Ernest died on 20 August 1956 in Whitley Hospital.
Rosa Sophia Payne was born in Bitterne in Hampshire on 25 July 1896, the daughter of William and Rosa Payne. Her father was a house painter, and by the time she was 16 in the 1911 census she was employed doing errands for a grocer. The family had consisted of nine children, although three had died. As her mother had been born in Oxfordshire this perhaps explains Rosina's marriage to an Oxfordshire man.
She died on 14 June 1982.
