Grave drawing
Grave photoHenry Jackson and Elizabeth Jackson nee Dennis The inscriptions on this stone are badly weathered and it is therefore difficult to establish the family. Although the entire slab is inscribed with several names, it is possible to pick out only those of Henry and Elizabeth. Elizabeth is named first, as the wife of Henry, and she died in May 1770 aged 66. This would seem therefore to be Elizabeth Dennis, who married Henry Jackson on 3 April 1744 at Coventry St John Baptist, when they were both described as being "of Foleshill." Her burial register entry notes that she was "of Coventry." Few firm details can be established about Henry Jackson, who is commemorated after his wife and who was buried on 17 February 1772. Again the register states that he was "from Coventry." A later generation of Jacksons is associated with Stoneleigh, and it may be that they are connected with Elizabeth and Henry, though evidence of this is still to be found. One assumes that the family was wealthy to have afforded such a fully-inscribed stone.
