Joseph Mayo and Mary Aston nee Mayo
On this headstone are commemorated a father and daughter.
Joseph Mayo, the son of Joseph and Mary nee Leigh, was a farmer from Tachbrook who went on to live at the Dale House, Kenilworth. His father Joseph had been named in a survey of the Estate in 1765 as holding lands in "Stoneley" and appears to have been descended from yet another Joseph.
The Joseph on the headstone was born in 1707, being baptised in February 1708 in Stoneleigh, and married Mary Bush on 18 April 1738. Their daughter
Mary was baptised on 14 March 1739 in Newbold Pacey.
Joseph died in 1785 and was buried on 1 April at Stoneleigh, where his register entry reads "Of Tachbrook late of the Dallis (Dalehouse) Kenilworth". Daughter Mary married John Aston of Tachbrook on 2 October 1764, and died on 16 September 1796.
