Grave drawing
Grave photoJohn & Ann Meigh nee Taylor The Meigh family were farmers on the Stoneleigh Estate for many years and were also associated with other Leigh properties in Hamstall Ridware in Staffordshire. John Meigh was baptised in Stoneleigh on 23 June 1697, his parents being William Meigh and Mary nee Ashton. They lived at Fletchamstead Hall where William farmed 250 acres of land, having taken over from his father William who had lived there since about 1670. John first married Anne Stone at Stoneleigh on 28 November 1727, but after her death (date unknown) married Ann Taylor in Stoneleigh on 15 September 1758. John died on 14 July 1784 aged 86 and his beautifully engraved headstone describes him as John Meigh "of Kenilworth late of Fletchamstead Hall in this parish". Ann Meigh was born Ann Taylor about 1703. (She may have been related to John Taylor who lived at Fletchamstead Hall before William Meigh.) Ann passed away 18 months after her husband John on 20 January 1786 and was buried on 24 January aged 83 years, the register stating "from Barson" (presumably "Barston").
