Edward Lee was the eldest of the four children of James Lee and Mary nee Garlick. They had married in Ashow, where the register states that they were both of the parish of Stoneleigh. Edward was born in 1751 in Ashow, where his parents farmed. He was baptised there on 29 May.
Sadly he was to die at the young age of 24, on 22 January 1775. He was buried at Stoneleigh on 30 January. Despite the family's residence in Ashow they were firmly associated with Stoneleigh, probably due to the Garlick family's long residence there.
