Cyril George Hancox was the eldest of the three sons of George Hancox and his wife Clara, nee Buswell. He was born on 18 October 1907 and baptised on 8 December that year at Westwood, where his father was a woodman living at The Pools. (See B11.7 for his brother Sydney and B11.8 for his brother Robert). Cyril married Margaret Thorley in 1951 and their daughter Linda was born in 1952. They lived in Church Lane at the time of their marriage and Cyril died aged 66 in 1974.
