Grave drawing
Grave photoHannah Garlick nee Boddington Hannah Boddington married Richard Garlick (D 1.1) on 16 April 1752 at Stoneleigh, and they went on to have four children. Hannah had been born in Ashow, where she was baptised, the daughter of William and Mary Boddington, on 11 June 1729. Richard died in 1764, and was buried at Stoneleigh on 20 May that year. For the following thirteen years Hannah managed the farm herself. She died on 7 October 1777 and was buried at Stoneleigh on 11 October. Her tombstone reads: While in this world she did remain Her latter end was grief and pain But when the Lord did think it best He took her to her place of rest. Their eldest son Richard succeeded to the farm, and their grandson George after him. It remained with the family until George's death in 1862, when he willed it to his great-nephew, Thomas Leonard Umbers.
