Robert John Hancox and Dorothy Annie Hancox nee Walton
Dorothy was born on 24 March 1895 in Stoneleigh, the second of five children of Thomas Edward Walton and his wife Elizabeth nee Goodwin (see
B2.3) Her father was a carpenter and the family lived at Motslow Hill Cottage. She was baptised in Stoneleigh on 19 May. During the First World war she worked as a telephone operator at the Royal Ordnance factory in Coventry. Relatively late in life, on 24 May 1941, she married Robert John Hancox, the son of George Hancox and his wife Clara nee Buswell.
Robert was born on 12 June 1911 in Westwood Heath, his parents' third son. At the time of his marriage he was a gardener living in Church Lane with his parents; his father was working as a fencer for the estate. His war service was as a flight-rigger in the RAF.
Dorothy and Robert had no children. He died on 23 March 1971 at the age of just 59; Dorothy survived until 12 January 1987, having lived to the grand age of 91.
