Grave photoFrancis George Walton and his brother Thomas Edward (see B2.3) were both carpenters, and sons of James Walton, carpenter and Lucy Ann (nee Freeman). He had two more brothers, Arthur and Herbert, and two sisters, Clara and Harriet. Francis (or Frank), the youngest, was born in 1877 and baptised at Stoneleigh on 22 July. The family address in 1881 was 4, Vicarage Lane - the property now known as Pear Tree Cottage. In June 1905 he married Selina Loveland in Aston, Birmingham. Selina Loveland had been born in Aston in 1882, one of four children of John and Elizabeth Loveland, but by 1901, aged 18, she was a pupil teacher, and this was what brought her to Stoneleigh. The Stoneleigh School Logbook records: November 2nd 1903 (Monday) Miss Selina Loveland late of Malvern Link School - Pupil Teacher at Erdington commenced duties here today as Assistant Mistress. She spent the rest of her teaching career at Stoneleigh School, with breaks when her son and daughter were born. She died on 12 July 1957, and her husband four years later, on 23 June 1961.
