Elizabeth Kate Barnes Franklin nee Hone was born on 5 February 1877 in Hornton, Oxfordshire, the daughter of David and Emma Caroline nee Haynes. She was baptised the following year on 2 June in Ratley. The gap between birth and baptism seems long, but her date of birth is certainly 1877 in the 1939 register. She had three brothers and a sister, and her brother Arthur is also buried at Stoneleigh (see
B2.13).
She married Ernest Franklin, a farm worker, in October 1901; earlier that year she had been a servant in Sulgrave. Her daughter Ivy Elizabeth was born in early 1908; in 1911 Ivy's age is given very precisely as 3 years 8 months.
By 1939 she and her husband lived in Stareton, just a couple of houses away from her brother Arthur and his wife Frances.
Elizabeth died on 20 May 1941 aged 63.
