Frank Ernest Grimes was the brother of Mary Murcott Grimes, (see
B5.3 Hollick), one of the seven children of William Howlett Grimes and Elizabeth Murcott Grimes (nee Ledbrook). He was born in Bubbenhall on 31 March 1872, where his parents farmed at 1, Ryton Road. After their parents died he and his siblings continued to farm there, although their sister Mary was married in 1906. The Grimes family were prominent farmers in Warwickshire, occupying more than seven farms and being, according to local newspapers, the principal employers of labour in the Bubbenhall district.
At the age of 39 Frank married
Helen Elizabeth Swinnerton on 19 July 1916. Helen was born in 1877 and baptised in August at Stoneleigh, the daughter of another local farming family, that of William Weston Swinnerton of Stivichall Grange. When she died on 23 November 1936 they were farming in Howes Lane.
Frank continued to play a large part in the community of Stoneleigh, and died on 26 October 1961 aged 89, having lived for some years at the Dale House, Stoneleigh, previously occupied by his sister Mary and her husband Frederick Hollick.
