Grave photoMary Murcott Hollick, nee Grimes was born into a farming family in Bubbenhall on 31 March 1869, one of seven children of William Howlett Grimes and his wife Elizabeth Murcott Grimes nee Ledbrook. Both the Grimes family and the Howletts were associated with local Warwickshire farms. She was married, in April 1906, to Frederick Hollick. Born in 1875, he was one of the nine children of John and Kathleen Hollick, who farmed over 600 acres in Lythalls Lane, Coventry, before moving to Stivichall Farm by 1891. Frederick and Mary came to farm at the Dale House, Kenilworth, and they had two children, Frederick William and Mabel Mary. Frederick Hollick died on 6 April 1937 at the Dale House; Mary died on 4 October 1942, the executor of her Will being her unmarried daughter Mabel. Image Frederick William Hollick was born on 6 February 1907 and baptised at Stoneleigh on 14 March. The family lived at the Dale House, Kenilworth. In January 1947 he married Doreen Phillips, whose father had been a director of the Standard Motor Company. The previous year he had been awarded the MBE for distinguished service in Burma during the war as a Warrant Officer with the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. He died on 13 December 1968 aged 61 and is commemorated on the surround of his parents' grave. Image Mabel Mary Hollick was born on 27 July 1908. In 1939 she was a riding school proprietress at Dale House farm, living with her widowed mother and two uncles. She died 28 December 1986 aged 78. (See also B5.2 Grimes)
