Gertrude Grace Wilkes was born in 1875 in West Bromwich. She married
John Henry Dexter in West Bromwich in April 1895. Their son
John Leslie Victor Dexter was born in Birmingham in 1897. By 1911 her husband was a waiter at a small hotel in Cromer Road Southend, but by 1916, when her son received a war pension after being discharged from the Royal Warwickshire Regiment, Gertrude's husband had become the steward of the Finham Golf Club. She, her husband and son lived there, in the Golf House, Finham Park. However, her husband seems to have disagreed with management and left. She and her mother Ellen Wilkes continued to live nearbyat Finham Green, and her son married
Isabel Winifred Lambert at Stoneleigh in 1929.
Gertrude died on the 12 June 1965 aged 90, and her mother
Ellen Wilkes, who died on 12 February 1952, aged 102, is also buried in the churchyard. (see

John Leslie Victor Dexter lived at 20 Fieldgate Lane Kenilworth and became secretary of the Standard Motor Company; he died on 22 July 1937 aged just 40, and is also buried at Stoneleigh. (see
