Grave photoRobert John Froom and Catherine Sarah Froom nee Anning This couple died within a few weeks of one another, their last address being The Vicarage Cottage, Stoneleigh. Robert John Froom was born on 19 February 1880 in Bridport in Dorset. Both his birthdate and baptism have been stated as the same day, and so it is possible that his actual birthdate was earlier. His parents were Samuel and Mary Ann nee James; his father was a builder and Robert became a bricklayer. On 3 February 1904 he married Catherine Sarah Anning at Wyke Regis in Dorset, and they were still living in Dorset by the early 1920s. A decade later, however, they lived at a property in Holyhead Road, Coventry, where Robert was a mason; the house held several couples and was probably a lodging-house or other temporary accommodation. The couple had one daughter, Winifred (later Winifred Parker, see B 8.8) Catherine was the daughter of Frederick Anning and his wife Sarah Maria nee Durndell; she was born on 27 May 1876 in Poplar, London. She had one younger brother. Sadly her mother died when Catherine was just six years old, and her father two years later. She then went to live in London with an aunt and uncle and their young children. Catherine's father had been born in Plymouth, however, so perhaps there were other family members whom she joined in the south-west, since she was to be married in 1904 in Dorset. Catherine died on 25 May 1951, and her husband Robert on 18 June, just 24 days later.
