D22.11

Grave photoAbraham and Anne Dry A small double headstone, very weathered, records the deaths of Abraham and Anne Dry. Neither of them has a recorded birth-date or marriage as registers were scant at that time. Their children's births are recorded, however, and they seem to have had three sons (one of whom died as a child) and a daughter, Sarah, who also died young (D 22.12). In the Stoneleigh registers and on the headstone, there is a clear intention to record Abraham as "Senior" when he died in 1727; he was buried on 12 August. Anne lived another two years and was buried on 28 October 1729. Their son Abraham Junior died in 1774 and their son Thomas died in Coventry and was buried at Stoneleigh on 20 December 1737. Confusingly the Stoneleigh burial register records the death of Abraham Junior as "Senior" - presumably a slip of the pen. It also notes that he is "from Stivichall".
