Sarah Dry
An ornate but very weathered headstone records the death of
Sarah Dry. She was one of four children born to
Abraham and Anne Dry (
D 22.11), whose family are recorded as holding tenancies in Stivichall.
Given the dates of birth of two of her siblings, in 1689 and 1697, it appears that Sarah died relatively young, in November 1707. Indeed the stone's inscription appears to say that she was in the " 7 year of her life". She was buried on 2 December, the register stating that her parents were from "Candley".
